The Ship30for30 Cohort was instrumental in making me realize that Twitter is a fun space.

How have I been ignoring twitter for so long. Now I’m hooked.

Twitter is a great platform to learn about new things, meet interesting people and grow an audience.

I’ve had my account since 2008.

It was not until January of this year that I’ve paid attention to the power of the platform.

And I’m only scratching the surface!

Here’s how you can make the most out of your Twitter Experience:

Step 1. Curate your feed — Follow people you find interesting. So if there’s someone in your feed that hasn’t been tweeting for a while, it’s ok to unfollow.

Step 2. Engage with people you find interesting the right way — engagement isn’t saying “wow good”, “haha!”.

It’s starting a conversation, asking questions, being curious.

Step 3. Give unconditionally –There will be days when the accounts you mingle with won’t respond that’s OK. Tweeting is writing, and writing is thinking, you’re getting something out of it. Trust me.

Step 4. Tweet a lot. — I don’t mean sharing what you had for lunch, or being cryptic like “that was great”. No.

Social media is for 2 things: Information and Entertainment. If you’re not helping someone learn something, at least entertain them.

Twitter is a Serendipity machine, and I love it!
